Earlier in the day New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat on a pretty flat wicket. After the early success of Jamie How, West Indies let their intensity dip by getting carried away and spraying the ball all around.McIntosh making his debut took his time to get off the mark. He took 37 balls to be precise. But Flynn settled and was able to get runs at a fair clip. Both of them were involved in a 87 run partnership which was finally broken by Chris Gayle.

Taylor once again flattered to deceive failing to convert a good start. With the amount of talent he has the New Zealand team management will be disappointed with the returns.Flynn carried on merrily before a lapse in concentration cost him his hundred. He was trapped in front after a referral was made to the third umpire.Rudi Koertzen gave him out after the on field umpire Ameesh Saheba had negated the appeal. Gayle getting his third wicket.Flynn was out for 95.

Ryder after being pushed to number 5 to accommodate Flynn at three came up with a good half century to consolidate New Zealand's position. New Zealand ended the day at 226 for 4 when bad light stopped play with 16 overs still remaining to be bowled.
