Mumbai, Aug. 30 : Evin Lewis didn't have a memorable T20 debut earlier this year as the 24-year-old Windies opener returned to the pavilion without opening his account in the World T20 against Afghanistan (Nagpur). But on Saturday, his second T20 match against India will be remembered for a long time by his family, friends and personal coach, Gus Logie.

"We didn't see the whole match on TV (there was no live telecast in Trinidad) but we watched his over against Stuart Binny on youtube", Dawn Lewis, the mother, who is in Government police department, said exclusively over her mobile.

"I was elated as he finally got his opportunity too and he made good use of it. I know he would have loved to hit the six sixes but that (the sixth six) was was not meant to be. Probably he may have been a bit to excited after having five in a row".

Lewis could not repeat his performance (he scored only seven) on Sunday. "I know this but it can happen with any good batsman. We are happy for his ton and Man of the Match in only his second T20", she added.

Lewis' hundred had 14 boundaries (5 fours and 9 sixes).

Later, Gus Logie, his childhood coach, speaking from Trinidad says, "Lewis always shows the preference for the aerial route, but to do in just his second game at that level was brilliant. I guess given the opportunity with Gayle's injury decided that his chance to shine and he did so in impressive style. I think it was the innings that dreams are made off".

"Lewis is a quiet and unassuming young man with the focus of making his mark at the national and international level in all formats of the game. However his breakthrough inning has brought him even more attention and expectations of all of us who have been involved in his development of the game", Logie added.

"He is a young man of few words".

"In fact during our domestic 50 over matches, we adopted super heroes names for our players and he choose the hero Wolverine as in the X-Men movie. Lewis was as brutal and unforgiving as his comic hero, just missing the record by a few balls", Logie, 55, signed off.
