Lloyd spent two summers on the Lord`s groundstaff, before attending Bangor Normal College, and although he had first played for Glamorgan in 1972, it wasn`t until 1978 that Lloyd played on a regular basis.
Whilst not being a big spinner of the ball, Lloyd`s greatest asset was nagging accuracy and he subsequently became a highly effective bowler in one-day cricket. In 1982 Lloyd won his county cap and shared captaincy duties with Javed Miandad. However, he lost his place in the side during the following season when Mike Selvey joined the club as captain.
He was released by Glamorgan at the end of the 1984 season, but Lloyd continued to play with success in the South Wales Leagues, as well as for the Wales Minor County side.
