Biography:Barrister, Lincoln's Inn (1861-); Recorder of Penzance, Cornwall (1871-79); Common Law counsel to The Treasury (1871-79); Judge, High Court of Justice - Queen's Bench Division (1879-82); Lord Justice (1882-). Whilst studying law he wrote regularly for the 'Saturday Review', and also later for 'The Spectator'
