Cyril Tamplin was one of Glamorgan`s reserve wicket-keepers in the years after the Second World War, and but for Haydn Davies` outstanding and consistent efforts behind the stumps, Tamplin might have enjoyed a successful county career himself.
Tamplin had an excellent record playing for Cardiff C.C., and in 1942/43 he made his first-class debut in Indian domestic cricket playing for Bengal whilst on National Service. In 1947 he was called up by Glamorgan to play against the South Africans at the Arms Park, and he played in two other games that summer when Davies was unavailable.
Tamplin regularly kept for Glamorgan in their Minor County matches in 1948 and 1949 .
